Q: Which film do you love that might surprise people?
BDA: Sometimes I find that people are surprised that I have such an eclectic taste in film in general- from blockbusters to small, obscure foreign films. My three favorite filmmakers on the planet are Ingmar Bergman, Albert Brooks and James Cameron just to show how widely my cinematic tastes reach! But I think people would be most surprised by my undying love for Scrooged. It’s not only my favorite Christmas movie but it’s also one of my favorite films of all time. Bill Murray is absolute perfection in it, and the story is hilarious, warm, sweet, romantic and totally smart. Back in 2006, Paramount announced that a special Scrooged: Yule Love It DVD edition would be released with a commentary track. It just made my year when I heard the news, but then it was never released. I hope one day that it will get back on the schedule because I would be first in line to buy it. In the meantime, my friends and I will continue to meet every Holiday season for our annual viewing and provide our own live commentary track.
Q: If you could pair up any two actors/actresses, living or dead, which two would it be & what kind of film?
BDA: Oh wow, I would love to see a comedy with Albert Brooks and Seth Rogen where they play father and son. I always thought Rogen reminded me of a younger Albert Brooks, and they have similar comic sensibilities. They would be pure magic on screen together.
Q: Which film has had the biggest impact on you personally, and why?
BDA: Definitely Terminator 2: Judgment Day. I saw it when I was 14 and it completely changed my life. It was the film that made me fall in love with movies and there has been no other movie that I have seen in my lifetime that has had the same impact on me. T2 is a sci-fi masterpiece which explores themes of survival, redemption, loss, the value of life, motherhood, fate, time travel, and the perils of technology all set against explosive action set pieces. It’s an extraordinary cinematic achievement.
Q: If you could have one prop from any film what would it be?
BDA: The CPU chip encased in glass that was housed at Cyberdyne from Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Q: Is there any subject matter which you would not make a film about?
BDA: I don’t make movies, but I am a small part of marketing them. As a cinemagoer though, I look for great stories when I decide what movies to see. So I think a film can be made about any subject matter as long as there is a strong, compelling narrative.
